High Fructose Corn Syrup – Disease in a Can

By Byron J. Richards, Board Certified Clinical Nutritionist

May 22, 2009

High fructose corn syrup continues to poison Americans who are silly enough to consume the stuff, which appears to be a great many people apparently hopelessly addicted to the flavoring stimulants used in their favorite drinks. A new study1 demonstrates that if you are the child of a type II diabetic parent, then you are at greater risk for developing cholesterol problems, insulin resistance, and leptin resistance if you consume high fructose corn syrup.

This study shows that high fructose intake is causing adverse metabolic changes in healthy children of type II diabetics – meaning consuming these drinks is especially risky if your genes aren't able to handle the abuse.

We wouldn't want soda companies to need a stimulus bailout – so we better just let them keep poisoning our kids. The American Medical Association continues to condone high fructose corn syrup and in the face of continual news on how damaging the widely used sweetener is, it just makes the AMA look like the fools they are.
