Joints & Cartilage
Hyaluronic Acid for Joint Cushioning
Hyaluronic acid is a primary component of the synovial fluid that surrounds the joints. Synovial fluid is the lubrication for joints, much like oil is used to lubricate moving parts in a machine. It also directly feeds nutrition to joint cartilage. HA helps joints have resiliency, ease of movement, and cushioning to distribute mechanical loads (shock absorbers).*
Hyaluronic acid makes up the backbone structure of cartilage. Without the adequate hyaluronic acid backbone, cartilage will more readily fall apart and deteriorate. Over the years we have seen many individuals significantly improve joint health, including those with knee, hip, or low back problems.*
Glucosamine and Chondroitin for Joint Mobility
Glucosamine is an important structural molecule, helping to form glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), the major building block of connective tissue and joints. A lack of glucosamine reduces the ability of the body to produce connective tissue at the proper rate.* Glucosamine has been shown in human clinical trials to ease joint discomfort and improve joint mobility.* In Wellness Resources® JointAll™ we use glucosamine HCL, a highly purified form of the nutrient. The low quality form of glucosamine used is glucosamine sulfate. It is unstable and degrades when exposed to moisture.*
Chondroitin is a major component of the extra cellular matrix, important in maintaining structural integrity. Numerous chondroitin sulfate molecules, glucosamine molecules, and sulfur-containing proteins form larger aggregates known as proteoglycans, which are used as major structural building blocks, including the structure of cartilage. Chondroitin sulfates are required for joint integrity, providing resistance of cartilage to compression. JointAll™ contains 90% purified chondroitin sulfates, the highest quality available. Many manufacturers use a 60% purified material, yielding considerable less of the active nutrient. This may not even be listed on their labels.*
FruiteX-B® (boron as calcium fructoborate)
Calcium fructoborate (FruiteX-B®) is a unique nature-identical form of the mineral boron, a nutrient woefully lacking in American soil and consequently the American food supply. An encouraging body of preliminary science shows that boron in the form of calcium fructoborate has novel benefits to the health of bones and joints. In this context it is one angle on these important health topics and can be used as part of an approach for the natural management of bone and joint health.*
5-Loxin® (boswella)
Boswella is an important joint protecting nutrient. It is also shown to boost brain function. One of the most potent extracts of boswella available as a dietary supplement is a patent-pending standardized extract called 5-Loxin®.*
Curcumin/ Turmeric
Curcumin is the yellow pigment derived from the spice tumeric. High quality dietary supplements standardize turmeric for the amount of curcuminoids, the primary biologically active ingredient. It is widely researched as an anti-inflammatory nutrient. A number of new studies demonstrate how curcumin can modulate inflammation associated with obesity and in so doing simultaneously improve joint health.*
