June 14, 2021
A preprint, non-peer reviewed study released June 05, 2021 on COVID-19 and necessity of vaccinations is causing quite a stir. The article is entitled Necessity of COVID-19 vaccination in previously infected individuals.
The study was conducted on over 52,000 Cleveland Clinic employees. It evaluated the necessity of COVID-19 vaccine in individuals who have already had SARS-CoV-2 versus those who have not.
Study results found that “Individuals who have had SARS-CoV-2 infection are unlikely to benefit from COVID-19 vaccination, and vaccines can be safely prioritized to those who have not been infected before.”
The study stated on the publication that this is “new medical research that has yet to be evaluated and so should not be used to guide clinical practice.”
