Omega 3 Oils like DHA are Needed to Maintain Health
June 4, 2009
The fatty acids in the American food supply have steadily changed over the past 100 years, resulting in five to ten times less omega 3 oils in our diets compared to much of our evolution. A new controlled study1 in healthy people has shown that eating higher levels of omega 3 oils turns down inflammatory gene signals.
This study is important because it is done in healthy people. It is safe to say that the lack of omega 3 oils is a form of stress. When you are younger and healthier you may be able to tolerate it somewhat – but why have it at all? It is pointless to push your body into a needless state of wear and tear simply from a basic dietary deficiency.
I explain the nature of omega 3 oils and how much you need for basic health in my article, DHA, Krill Oil & Green-Lipped Mussel – Which is Best?
