Obesity Helps Cause Periodontal Disease

A new study following 36,903 men for 16 years has shown that obesity significantly increases the risk for periodontal disease1. Back in Spetmeber of 2008 I reported the precise mechanism by which periodontal disease increases the risk for heart disease. Taken together these studies pain a clear picture of one of the ways in which obesity causes heart disease.
The moral of the story is floss and brush every day if you want to live longer – it isn't that much work for so much benefit.
