May 20, 2024
Over the last year, we have made exciting updates and expanded our Wellness Resources nutritional supplement line! New products include PEA Ultra, Vitamin K Complex, Tributyrin Plus, Berberine Ultra, and B12+Folate. Each product is a specialty item formulated with the latest nutritional science and you in mind! In case you missed it, here is a quick recap on these great resources!
PEA Ultra
PEA Ultra, a form of micronized palmitoylethanolamide, is one of the most important, potent bioactive lipids for your body. PEA works by resolving inflammatory processes associated with your daily wear and tear. Although it is naturally produced by your brain and internal organs, PEA levels decline with age or may be reduced due to life challenges.
PEA is especially important for the nerves, glial cells, and immune cells in your brain and peripheral nervous system. It regulates the rate of nerve firing, calms nerves and microglial cells, and dampens nerve irritation and hyperactivity. PEA provides a natural cannabinoid-like effect, offering comfort to your body under stress.
PEA also targets immune health and microbial interactions. It inhibits mast cell activity and the release of histamine. It provides comfort to your joints and cartilage. It aids the repair of your digestive tract and promotes recovery during sleep, helping you feel more refreshed and many more activities.
PEA is commonly taken at bedtime for general repair needs, but may be used during the day if repair, comfort, or stress needs are high. While PEA works together with other nutrients, no vitamin, mineral, phytonutrient, or other lipid duplicates its functions.
PEA Ultra is a micronized form, offering the best bioavailability. The dosage is 1 to 4 capsules per day, which may be taken with or without food.
Vitamin K Complex
Vitamin K Complex is a full-spectrum vitamin K supplement, combining vitamin K1 and two biologically active forms of vitamin K2 (MK-4 and MK-7). These forms work synergistically in the body, each providing unique benefits.
Vitamin K1 primarily works in your liver for healthy coagulation and normal blood clotting. It is a necessary nutrient found in green leafy vegetables and fruits like spinach, kale, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, avocados, kiwi, and grapes, with trace amounts in other food.
Some individuals avoid vitamin K1 due to certain medications. However, research and medical professionals state that “vitamin K use with warfarin/Coumadin therapy is safe and may improve INR control, although a dosage adjustment is required.” Work with your health practitioner team to adjust your medication as you provide your body with this essential dietary nutrient. More information may be found in the article Vitamin K: It Helps More Than Just Bones.
Vitamin K2 as MK-4 and MK-7 plays critical roles in maintaining bone density and arterial integrity. It prevents calcium from depositing in the lining of blood vessels and instead transports it into your bones.
Vitamin K2 is also used by vitamin K dependent proteins. These compounds affect nearly all tissues in your body including your joints, cartilage, muscles, eye and lens, brain, mitochondria, pancreas, heart, and lungs. These proteins affect biological activities like autophagy, cellular apoptosis, and regulation of oxidative stress.
Vitamin K2 is found in fermented foods like sauerkraut, yogurt, and kefir as well as egg yolk, butter, lard, chicken liver, salami, chicken, beef, pork, salmon.
Many individuals lack vitamin K in their diet, take medications that deplete it, or have digestive issues that impair its absorption. There is no RDA upper limit for vitamin K. More information may be found in the article Vitamin K Critical for Bones and Arterial Health.
Tributyrin Plus
Tributyrin Plus is a wonderful addition to our product line. Tributyrin Plus is a predominantly a postbiotic product uniquely blended with small amounts of prebiotic fibers. This blend increases its usage and availability.
Butyrate, a type of short chain fatty acid (SCFA), is the most important fatty acid necessary to protect “tight junctions” and repair the inner intestinal lining. It works synergistically with the amino acid glutamine found in GI & Muscle Helper, but neither nutrient replaces each other.
Butyrate helps stimulate mucous secretions in the bowel, which is crucial for bowel motility, tolerance to foods and substances, and for immune function and production of T-reg cells that maintain immune homeostasis. Butyrate also aids in the absorption of electrolytes and fluids. Furthermore, it facilitates GLP-1 secretion, which helps your appetite, induces vagus nerve signaling, and much more.
Individuals consuming gluten-free, grain-free, lectin-free, or keto- diets, or the Western diet lack dietary fiber. A lack of fiber and gut dysbiosis impairs the natural production of butyrate and other SCFAs. Furthermore, chronic stress and medications alter the gut microbiome, reducing butyrate production. Tributyrin Plus is essential for anyone concerned with increased intestinal permeability and protection of neuro-gut-immune health.
Berberine Ultra
Berberine is a yellow-colored herbal ingredient naturally found in goldenseal. Historically, it has been used for centuries to support digestion and metabolism.
Modern research shows that berberine enhances the secretion of GLP-1, which assists with appetite and satiety, blood sugar usage, and overall caloric burning and metabolism.
Berberine acts as an antioxidant for heart, brain, liver, and mitochondria health. It activates AMPK, which is central to maintaining energy mechanisms and cellular stress tolerance. It is also a SIRT-3 activator, which supports blood sugar management and healthy aging. Additionally, it provides antioxidant activities against rogue cells in the breasts, lung, digestive tract, liver, ovaries, uterus, prostate, etc.
Like butyrate, berberine also supports SCFA postbiotic production and a healthy gut microbiome diversity. It supports gut lining integrity and absorption differently than butyrate.
Berberine Ultra provides a phospholipid form that is four times more soluble and absorbable to berberine HCl. It works synergistically with other plant-based nutrients and antioxidants.
B12 + Folate
Vitamin B12 and folate are crucial for the formation and function of many tissues. From growth and development from conception through your entire life, your body uses vitamin B12 and folate. Yet so many things can increase your need, including age, restricted diets, family planning, medications, and digestive dysfunction. In these circumstances, additional supplemental support may be needed beyond a multiple vitamin or a B complex.
Finding a high-quality B12 and folate product isn’t always easy. Mass-produced products often contain cyanocobalamin and folic acid. These synthetic forms can lead to cellular stress and further challenges. Rather than relying on big box stores or pharmaceutically-owned nutritional companies, you can trust Wellness Resources to provide you with natural, quality, bioactive vitamin B12 and folate.
Wellness Resources B12+Folate provides methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalmin, bioactive forms of vitamin B12 and natural methylated folate. These forms are ready-made energy and are highly absorbable. You asked for it, and we have it!
