DHA During Pregnancy Supports Infant’s Immunity
August 21, 2011

Pregnant women who consumed 400 mg per day of DHA had children with better functioning immune systems.
The study involved 1,100 pregnant women and 900 infants. All of the infants in the study were breastfed, receiving increased DHA from the breast milk of supplemented mothers. They were not supplemented with DHA, however, after giving birth.
At one month, three months, and six months of age, the infants in the DHA group showed a healthier natural immunity.
DHA is now recognized as a vital nutrient for the human body. DHA is doctor recommended during pregnancy and should be standard recommendation for breastfeeding mothers as well.
